A survey of the condition of the gravestones in St Peter's graveyard, Heysham (carried out between summer 2022 and summer 2023).
The survey was conducted using this 2011 English Heritage publication Caring for Historic Graveyard and Cemetery Monuments. as guidance.
Further guidance on the effects of weathering on gravestones was obtained from the University College London, Earth Sciences publication Gravestone Weathering. The descriptions of the gravestones are consistent with the definitions found in "Recording and Analysing Graveyards" by Harold Mytum.
